From Sustainability Project Status #1 (12/2022):
"In December 2022, Plastic Fischer was able to collect and process 2,840 kg of River Plastic in Kanpur, Varanasi and Mangalore thanks to Gebr. Becker. 2,840 kg of plastic is equivalent to more than 140,000 plastic bags that have been gefischt from rivers and no longer pollute the environment and destroy biodiversity.
We were able to provide a regular income to at least 27 people and hire helpers on some days – when there is a lot of work."

"In 2018, Georg, Karsten & Moritz saw how plastic was entering the ocean through the Mekong Delta and had a gut feeling that this was not an exception. Plastic Fischer became the first organisations to stop marine plastic pollution already in rivers. Today, it is common sense that rivers (especially in Asia) are contributing most to the ocean plastic soup.
At least 8 million tons of plastic – one truckload every minute – are dumped into our oceans every year. Around 80% of the Ocean Plastic was River Plastic before, coming from around 1000 rivers."
